CHICAGO, US. October 24th, 2024 – The Hispanic Technology Executive Council (HITEC) announced today that it has selected Capital One as the 2024 HITEC Corporation of the Year. Capital One is being recognized for its exemplary leadership and commitment to HITEC and the Hispanic community as well as its contributions to technology, innovation and inclusivity.

Capital One is an industry leader, actively promoting equity, inclusion and diversity, and touting a variety of enterprise programs and initiatives that focus on attracting, retaining and developing diverse talent at all levels. Capital One regularly hosts events and training for technologists, hackathons, coding workshops as well as workshops for professional development, interviewing and resume building.

Capital One has been a steadfast partner of HITEC since 2016. In addition to sitting on HITEC’s Corporate Advisory Board, Capital One has hosted several HITEC leadership Summits, including this week’s 2024 Fall Leadership Summit. These Summits bring together hundreds of Hispanic leaders from across the country to connect, learn and be inspired. CHICAGO, October 23, 2024 – The Hispanic Technology Executive Council (HITEC) is pleased to announce that Priscilla Almodovar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fannie Mae, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 HITEC Estrella Award.  

The Estrella Award is HITEC’s most prestigious award presented annually to one individual whose leadership, integrity and dedication has contributed to the advancement of technology and who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of their career. The Estrella Award will be presented to Almodovar at the HITEC Fall Leadership Summit hosted by Capital One in McLean, VA on October 23, 2024. 

“Priscilla is a purpose driven leader working to make homeownership available to more people across America,” said HITEC Chair Rosa Ramos Kwok. “She is an innovator in her industry and an inspiration to the next generation of leaders looking to make an impact in the c-suite and in the board room.” 

Almodovar has more than 30 years of experience in law, finance, real estate, banking and community development. She is currently the only Latina serving as CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Almodovar strongly believes that generational wealth is built through homeownership and uses her voice to help create a housing system that is more equitable and works for everyone.  She is recognized as one of Fortune’s 50 most powerful Latinas, Hispanic Business’ 100 Most Influential Hispanics and more.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. October 22nd, 2024 –The Hispanic Technology Executive Council (HITEC) is pleased to announce Yamila Harris, Global Head of IT Support and User Experience for Munich Re and Jesus Mantas, Global Managing Partner at IBM as the 2024 inductees into the HITEC Hall of Fame.

“Jesus and Yamila are exceptional leaders and it’s a honor to welcome them to the HITEC Hall of Fame. Their visionary leadership and tireless efforts have not only propelled technological advancements but have also inspired countless individuals in our community. This honor reflects their outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment to excellence including our HITEC Mission and Vision,” said Rosa Ramos-Kwok, HITEC Chair.

The induction ceremony will take place on October 24 during the HITEC Awards Gala, part of the HITEC Fall Leadership Summit hosted by Capital One in McClean, VA.

Harris has been a dedicated member of HITEC since 2015. She has consistently showcased her commitment to the organization and its mission, winning the HITEC Member of the Year Award in 2021. Harris has been awarded the prestigious HITEC 100 award in 2016, 2018 – 2024, which spotlights Hispanic technology professionals who inspire and advocate for technology careers.  She has also served as Co-Chair of the HITEC Advisory Board from 2018 to 2020 and currently sits on the HITEC Board of Directors. Harris’ impact within HITEC is evident through her strategic leadership, active participation in events, and her pivotal role in various committees and initiatives aimed at uplifting the HITEC community.

Jesus Mantas has built a distinguished career in technology, with a long-standing track record of supporting and nurturing innovation. He has served on the HITEC Board of Directors since 2021. Mantas has been a passionate steward of the organization’s mission, leading in its strategic initiatives and spearheading the 2022 Fall Leadership Summit hosted at IBM.  Mantas has been awarded the HITEC 100 several years in a row, from 2019 – 2023, and presented with the Estrella Award in 2022, a prestigious honor that recognizes an individual whose leadership, integrity, and dedication have contributed to the advancement of technology.

The HITEC Foundation supports students across the United States with financial support, individualized mentorship, and career development workshops with access to internship and early career opportunities. Our corporate partners invest their resources because they not only believe in the potential of these young technologists but also depend on their talent to innovate advanced solutions. The generous support of like-minded partners and individuals enables the HITEC Foundation to deliver programs that have a profound impact on our community.
