Illinois, USA. May 29th 2025Driver Defense Team, Chicagoland’s premier trial law firm for Illinois drivers, today announced the release of their new eBook, “How to Get Your License Back After DUIs: The Ultimate Guide to Illinois Secretary of State Reinstatement Hearings.”

This step-by-step guide combines the knowledge and experience of a 30-strong team of attorneys and legal professionals who have helped hundreds of Illinois residents get back on the road after having their license revoked — sometimes for years or even decades.

“I talk to people all the time who have gone 20, even 30, years without a license,” says Derek Martin, Partner and Co-Founder of the firm. “And we get why. The whole process poses a lot of questions with very few answers, and it’s usually a lot easier to put it off. For less than the cost of lunch, we give people the answers they need. We’ve held nothing back.”

Demystifying Driver Revocation in Illinois

In Illinois, driving is considered a privilege, not a right. This key distinction means the Secretary of State can take away a driver’s license if they pose a threat to public safety.

This can happen in many situations, including accumulating too many traffic violations, committing a serious offense, or neglecting financial responsibilities, such as failing to pay child support.

Just as the Secretary of State can take away someone’s license, they can give it back. But the process can be complicated. You’ll have to attend a formal or an informal hearing, answer questions, and prove you won’t threaten public safety if your driving privileges are reinstated. You might also need to meet additional requirements, such as completing a treatment program and drug and alcohol evaluation, and getting high-risk insurance.

But before you can even consider attending a hearing to get your license back, you must be eligible.

What many people don’t realize is that the Secretary of State will let you go through the entire process of gathering evidence and attending a hearing even if you’re not legally eligible.

By following the advice given in How to Get Your License Back, you can avoid the stress and wasted time of attending a reinstatement hearing when the only possible outcome is that your request will be denied.

The book covers every aspect of license reinstatement in Illinois, sharing all the secrets and tips from attorneys who exclusively deal with driving issues:
  • How to determine if you’re eligible (and alternatives for if you’re not)
  • How to get a copy of your driving abstract and step-by-step instructions on how to read it
  • An in-depth explanation of the different types of hearings… and which is right for you
  • The exact questions the Secretary of State will ask you (and how to answer them)
  • How all those old tickets from back in the day can influence the Secretary of State’s decision, and how to clean them up before your hearing.
More Than an Inconvenience
Having your license revoked can affect a person’s entire life. For many, driving is essential for employment. Public transport and ridesharing services can be a short-term fix, but they’re not financially sustainable in the long run. Public transport isn’t even an option for those who transport tools or work across multiple locations.

Then, there’s the strain on family relationships. What begins as a spouse or older child being happy to help out turns into you becoming a burden.

Derek continues, “Many clients tell us about the strain their license revocation has placed on their spouses, children, or other family members who have been tasked with driving them everywhere. Over time, this can cause tension and resentment within a household. For many people, this is a key motivator to start the process of getting their license back.

“With this book, we’re putting the power back in drivers’ hands so they can get their licenses back — without the cost of hiring a lawyer.”

How to Get Your License Back After DUIs is available now through the Driver Defense Team website at http://ddt.driverdefenseteam.com/ebook for $7.00.

KUTZTOWN, PA. February 24th, 2025 – As Americans grapple with unprecedented challenges to civil liberties and food security, author Peter Karch releases “P.E.T.S. The Best Kept Secret,” a thriller that mirrors current societal tensions through the lens of a near-future crisis. The novel arrives at a pivotal moment in American history, when debates about food sovereignty, resource allocation, and civil liberties dominate national discourse.

The novel examines how a society’s desperate need for resources can lead to the erosion of fundamental human rights. Against the backdrop of today’s headlines about refugee policies, civil rights restrictions, and growing food insecurity, “P.E.T.S.” presents a stark warning about the consequences of sacrificing moral principles for survival. Through its exploration of a society under pressure, the book raises urgent questions about the true cost of maintaining our way of life.

“P.E.T.S. The Best Kept Secret” follows characters navigating an increasingly authoritarian society where food security becomes the justification for extreme measures. The narrative explores themes particularly resonant in 2025: the gradual erosion of individual rights, the manipulation of public fear, and the use of resource scarcity to justify unprecedented government control. As the characters uncover layers of institutional corruption, they face choices that mirror the moral dilemmas confronting many Americans today.

In the tradition of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road,” the novel extrapolates current trends to their logical, frightening conclusions. The story examines how societies rationalize increasingly extreme measures when faced with scarcity and fear, a theme that takes on new significance amid current political developments and policy shifts. The novel’s careful attention to the psychology of social change reveals how quickly accepted norms can shift under pressure.

Early readers have noted the novel’s unsettling parallels to contemporary headlines, particularly in its exploration of how governments can use basic needs—like food security—to implement sweeping changes to civil liberties. The story raises pressing questions about the price of survival and the subtle ways rights can be exchanged for security. Through its diverse cast of characters, the novel examines these issues from multiple perspectives, offering a nuanced look at how different segments of society respond to mounting pressures.

The novel’s timing coincides with national discussions about food sovereignty, civil rights, and the balance between security and freedom. Its narrative particularly resonates with recent policy changes affecting resource allocation, immigration, and civil liberties, offering a provocative glimpse of where current trends might lead. The story’s exploration of food security as a mechanism of control speaks directly to current debates about resource distribution and social justice.

As communities across America face growing challenges with food accessibility and civil rights protections, “P.E.T.S.” provides a framework for understanding how seemingly small compromises can lead to fundamental changes in society. The novel’s examination of institutional power and individual choice offers readers a lens through which to view current events and consider their long-term implications.

The book’s narrative structure interweaves personal stories with larger societal themes, demonstrating how national policies affect individual lives. Through its careful world-building, the novel creates a believable scenario that helps readers understand the potential consequences of current political and social trends. The story’s focus on food security as a central theme resonates with growing concerns about climate change, resource allocation, and social equity.

Published in both paperback and Kindle formats, “P.E.T.S. The Best Kept Secret” arrives at a crucial moment in American political discourse. The novel serves as both a compelling thriller and a thought-provoking examination of contemporary social issues. Its release comes at a time when many Americans are seeking to understand the broader implications of current political decisions and their potential impact on future generations.

MACCLESFIELD, UK 15th December 2022- Part of the Family, by Jan Garsden is an inspiring story of one Macclesfield family’s journey through the British care system. From the point of view of a foster carer, it tells of the funny, challenging, and often harrowing times of living life in an ever-changing household of temporary children.

Steering a course through the muddy waters of the care system has provided many obstacles but has overall proved to be a rewarding and heart-warming experience for the author. Children who find themselves removed from their birth families are thrust into a system which, although trying its best, is so often lacking in the love and good quality nurturing they deserve. As a society, we need to look at the way we deal with vulnerable children.

This book appeals to not only those who foster children, but anyone considering the fostering experience. It is also a heart rending story of children who should have been given a better start in life. It will make you laugh, cry, and angry in equal measure.

Jan said: “Although this is my first book, and I am just a pensioner with a pen, I am delighted that the many hours of pleasure, pain, and hilarity we experienced with our foster children will finally be published. I think that my story is relevant to anybody who has contact with children. It will make you laugh, cry, and angry in equal measure. I hope the reader enjoys it.”

Jan Garsden from Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Although this is Jan’s first book, her story is both powerful and moving. She was first a model and a beauty queen, and then an interior designer. She and her family decided to “give something back” and began fostering in 2007. The following 10 years were a rollercoaster of emotions, including anger, frustration, sadness, joy, elation, and humour, but the idea of helping children was at the core of their beliefs. Jan made notes throughout her fostering career in order to remember the individuals who touched her life.

Jan lives on a farm in the beautiful Cheshire countryside.

He was outspoken at times, but always had the best interest of the Indian diaspora in mind.

Bob Blackman MP said that in his constituency of Harrow East there is a vibrant Indian community, who he has supported over the years. Most have a similar story to tell of humble beginnings and working hard to establish themselves and giving a better future for their families. “The Indian family has always given preference for a good education for their children”, Bob Blackman added, whilst appreciating Suresh’s younger school days.

Dr Honey Kalaria, Bollywood Ambassador UK, shared that she has known Suresh for over 30 years and had the pleasure of working together on many fund raising community events and high profile concerts. A true success story accumulating from hard work and dedication to family and friends.

Suresh Kumar Author of Follow that Dream said that he was humbled by everyone’s Love, affection, and kind words of support. He started into business at the age of 16 and established Indra Travel in East London, one of the successful Travel & Aviation companies to The Indian Sub-Continent and is always grateful to its clients for the support over the years.  The office was named in memory of his Mother Indra.

Suresh Kumar passionately shared, “It is an honour to have Lord Archer conduct the book launch in The Prestigious House of Commons and Nehru Centre. It was important for me that the newer generation have a factual account of our humble beginnings from Lahore Pakistan in 1947, to Punjab India and the journey in 1955 to UK. As grandparents and parents are no longer around, memories tend to become vague, therefore it was important to have a historic fact of their journey, facing trials and tribulations upon their route.   Follow that Dream is dedicated to all those families who have travelled a similar journey, to that of my family.  My story is not unique, I am sure it is narrated across many households around the World. But many have not put pen to paper and wrote about their experience.  There is so much that we owe to Great Britain, for giving us those opportunities to be a fabric of this Country we all call home”.

Suresh Kumar said that he is what he is because of his parents and owed them a debt of gratitude, which could never be repaid.  They were humble and sincere and made many sacrifices for their family. They never had the time to enjoy a good life, as always working to put food on the table. When times became better, they passed.  One great regret in my life, is that I was unable to provide better for them, which they surely deserved.

Suresh Kumar was described as a businessman, inspiration, community leader, family man, and most of all, a supportive person, always ready to help others.  The book was a testament to the author’s sincerity and his caring for those around him, his wider family and he has the support of the many communities living together in East London.
